What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment at Take2 Healthcare involves the skilled manipulation of joints in your body by a licensed chiropractor, using either their hands or specialized instruments. Also known as spinal or joint manipulation, this therapeutic treatment aids in alleviating pain, correcting your body’s alignment, and enhancing your physical functionality. It complements the traditional medical care you receive, providing a holistic approach to your well-being. Just a “click” or mild clicking sound might be heard or felt as vertebrae are being adjusted. Typically, relief is felt shortly after the adjustment is over.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Adjustments are safe when performed by a trained and licensed provider.
Many studies over the years have shown Chiropractic to be safe, highly beneficial, with high patient satisfaction and cost effective results.

A study in the Journal of Human Hypertension showed that patients getting an adjustment to the cervical spine (neck) resulted in significantly lower blood pressure (1). Another study showed that people who saw a Chiropractor first for their back pain had 42% less surgery than those that went to Medical Doctor first (2). People that saw a Chiropractor for neck pain missed less work and success was twice as high as for patients seeing a medical doctor. Low back pain treated with a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) saves 40% on healthcare costs when compared with care initiated through a Medical Doctor (MD), according to a study of 85,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) beneficiaries (3).

Serious complications associated with chiropractic adjustment are rare. All surgical procedures, even minor surgery, has risks. All of these have higher risk of injury and death than seeing a Chiropractor. What is riskier- Seeing a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Chiropractic? Malpractice insurance rates will be a good indicator of what is more dangerous. The truth is that malpractice rates for a Medical Doctor will usually be at least 10 times higher than the same coverage for a Chiropractor. If Chiropractors were really causing a lot of strokes or death, their malpractice rates would be much higher.

The medical community might be able to fool the public but not the insurance companies. Bottom line: Chiropractic is very safe especially when compared to the medical profession.
